The proprietor, Elizabeth Jebson, worked for many years as a designer of soft furnishings and fancy goods, under her own label. These items were manufactured in England and sold around the world from stands at the major UK trade exhibitions.
She had a dream that one day she would have a High Street location from which to ply her trade and with her extensive knowledge of textiles and all matters sewing related it was a natural progression to move from soft furnishings and fancy goods to haberdashery and curtains.
Millennium Baby
Her dream was realised when, on the 1st March 2000, she opened the doors of The Curtain Scene. The shop, which is situated within the conservation area of the picturesque market town of Sevenoaks, Kent, is a haven for all people in need of sewing or knitting supplies as well as those requiring curtains, fabrics, tracks, poles, blinds and a whole range of related accessories.
Company ethos
Elizabeth and her knowledgeable staff endeavour to offer a level of service that is rarely seen in todays market place. The emphasis is on personal service, attention to detail and is driven by a desire to exceed customer expectations. This is true whether a customer requires several sets of curtains for their house, a single small blind, a new ball gown, a reel of thread or simply "a bit of plastic" to fix a broken curtain track.
Customer satisfaction
Over the years the business has built up a large following of very loyal customers who return time and time again, many travelling great distances. We even have customers from oversees who, when visiting the Sevenoaks area, make a point of calling in at the store to stock up on items that they have trouble obtaining in their locality. We firmly believe that our customer satisfaction rating is extremely high and we intend to keep it that way.
